Chris Potter does not need any specific introduction because he is one of the most important and talented saxophone player in the contemporary jazz scenario. His unbelievable technical capabilities and extraordinary musicality allow him to play easily and naturally different instruments (tenor, alto and soprano sax, flute and bass clarinet) keeping unaltered his strong musical expression.
Thanks to these characteristics, combined with a deep knowledge of the jazz history and tradition, he is strongly beloved by both the traditional jazz lovers and contemporary and avant-garde estimators.

For the Brescia concert Potter will enjoy a stellar rhythm section made up by the bassist Linley Marthe, who has been a stable member of the Zawinul Syndacate since 2003, and the amazing drummer Eric Harland.

Chris Potter non ha bisogno di presentazione, tecnica stellare e versatilità a trecentosessanta gradi lo hanno reso il più credibile erede di Michael Brecker. Polistrumentista e compositore, è spesso citato da critici, musicisti e da un crescente numero di fan come il migliore sassofonista del suo tempo.
È uno dei pochi a passare con una naturalezza sconvolgente dal sax tenore, al contralto, al soprano, così come al flauto contralto e al clarinetto basso.
Con diverse performance nelle formazioni e nelle registrazioni di artisti del calibro di Dave Holland, Paul Motian, Patricia Barber, the Mingus Big Band, James Moody, Dave Douglas, Joe Lovano, Wayne Krantz, Steely Dan, John Scofield e Pat Metheny, dal 1991 Potter ha cominciato a svolgere anche attività live in giro per il mondo con proprie band.
Potter unisce a un’impellente urgenza espressiva, che a volte giunge a ricordare Sonny Rollins, un’acuta consapevolezza della storia recente dello strumento e un sottile senso costruttivo che gli permette di prendere i più arditi rischi armonici senza mai perdere la bussola dell’architettura generale.
Per questo viene ascoltato con uguale ammirazione tanto dai cultori della tradizione (ai quali regala sempre qualche standard elegantemente rielaborato) quanto dagli amanti delle ricerche contemporanee.
Le sue parole: “Voglio che la gente si senta libera di ballare, voglio che senta la musica e che non la percepisca come qualcosa di distante o difficile. Voglio poter comunicare, e so di poterlo fare senza dover sacrificare nulla dal punto di vista artistico“.
A Brescia Chris Potter si presenta con una formazione molto particolare pianoless, accompagnato da due straordinari musicisti quali il bassista Linley Marthe, virtuoso ed etremamente versatile che, oltre ad aver collaborato con musicisti del calibro di Cheb Mami, Mino Cinelu, Dave Liebman, Nguyen Le, Andy Emler, Trilok Gurtu, Michel Portal, Didier Lockwood, Richard Galliano, dal 2003 è componete stabile del Zawinul Syndicate e il batterista Eric Harland, tra i più richiesti e ricercati a livello mondiale.
