DUE CONCERTI CON CENA SOTTO LE STELLE...Tutte le sere del Festival, a partire dalle ore 20,00, nell’Arena Jazzontheroad, sarà possibile ascoltare un ottimo concerto NEW WAY, dedicato ai giovani talenti, cenando con squisiti piatti preparati da Eat&Smile e bevendo l’ottima birra del Birrificio Curtense, in attesa del concerto “Big” in programma.

Formazione giovane, solida e dinamica, nata nelle Classi Jazz del Conservatorio di Brescia.
Dotata di spiccato interplay e vivacità espressiva, vanta una notevole maturità professionale, consolidata nel corso delle numerose ed apprezzate esibizioni effettuate in locali e rassegne jazz, tra cui le performances all’INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2017 di Bergamo e di Verona.
Se il percorso musicale iniziale portava alla rivisitazione del jazz tradizionale in chiave funk ed all’esplorazione del jazz moderno di autori come John Scofield, Pat Metheny ed altri, LESS is MORE trio ora si muove anche con NUGAE, un progetto inedito in forma di suite di Edoardo Morselli.
La suite è pervasa da sonorità e gradi tipici del blues e dal groove decisamente funk, coniugati con armonie dalle sonorità molto jazz e da tensioni armoniche tipiche del jazz contemporaneo: è un progetto che denota una matura personalità compositiva ed esprime energia e grande intensità emotiva.Alle ore 21,30 ci si sposta sul palco centrale per ascoltare:

Julian Lage è nato a Santa Rosa (California) il giorno di Natale del 1987: ad appena 31 anni ha già una lunghissima carriera alle spalle. Bambino prodigio, all’età di sette anni già si esibiva da professionista nell’area di San Francisco. A confermarlo c’è anche un film documentario: Jules at Eight, diretto da Mark Becker nel 1996. Poco dopo, nel 2000 fu invitato a esibirsi alla cerimonia dei Grammy Awards: aveva appena 12 anni.
La sua formazione ha seguito varie strade, tra le quali spiccano la preparazione classica al Conservatorio di San Francisco e quella jazz completata al Berklee College of Music di Boston. Qui ebbe come insegnante anche Gary Burton, che lo coinvolse nel suo gruppo. Lo si ascolta infatti su Generations (2004) e Next Generation (2005): Lage, non ancora maggiorenne, era già entrato nel giro del jazz del più alto livello. In seguito ha collaborato con Jim Hall, Herbie Hancock, Fred Hersch (per il quale ha anche preso parte al film documentario “The Ballad Of Fre Hersch”), Christian McBride, Eric Harland e Larry Grenadier, Bela Fleck, Antonio Sanchez… Nel 2009 pubblica il primo album da leader (Sounding Point: un esordio che ottiene una nomination ai Grammy). Nella sua discografia spicca poi il primo disco in solo alla chitarra acustica (World’s Fair, 2015), mentre il più recente Modern Lore (2018) ce lo presenta a capo di un trio con Scott Colley e Kenny Wollesen.

Young, solid and dynamic band, born in the Jazz Classes of the Brescia Conservatory.
Equipped with a strong interplay and expressive vivacity, it boasts a remarkable professional maturity, consolidated during the numerous and appreciated performances performed in clubs and jazz reviews, including the performances at the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2017 in Bergamo and Verona.
If the initial musical path led to a revisitation of traditional jazz in a funk key and to the exploration of modern jazz by authors such as John Scofield, Pat Metheny and others, LESS is MORE trio now also moves with NUGAE, a new project in the form of a suite by Edoardo Morselli.
The suite is pervaded by typical blues sounds and grades and decidedly funk grooves, combined with harmonies with very jazzy sounds and harmonic tensions typical of contemporary jazz: it is a project that denotes a mature compositional personality and expresses energy and great emotional intensity.At 9,30 p.m. we move to the central stage to listen:
